Little things

Posted by: moose845 on: March 30, 2008

I found these little designs that I did a while ago. These are small so they’ll work great on baby things. I’ve finished up some more designs and just need to test stitch to make sure they sew okay. I hope some of you can use them.
We finally had a Sunday at home. I spent most [...]

I wish you bluebirds in the spring…

Posted by: moose845 on: March 28, 2008

I started this little bird a few weeks ago when the weather started warming up and made me think of spring. I finished it this evening. I have quite a few designs in various stages and I’ve decided that I need to finish some of them. A friend asked me to do a few wedding designs [...]

The new spring colors

Posted by: moose845 on: March 28, 2008

Pantone has published its color trend selections for spring 2008, which features their top ten colors for fashion and fabric. Here’s the link for the Pantone Fashion Color Report Spring 2008. Very pretty colors: rococo red, snorkel blue, daiquiri green, silver gray, freesia, cantaloupe, croissant, spring crocus, pink mist, and golden olive. I’m glad to see [...]

Happy (Belated) Birthday, Roger!

Posted by: moose845 on: March 27, 2008

Roger’s birthday was on March 24th. We’ve been so busy the last few weeks that it almost slipped my mind. I probably would have forgotten if Jenifer hadn’t given him his birthday gifts while we were visiting her this past weekend. She wrapped his gifts (shirts and the DVDs I am Legend and Beowulf) in old Coast Guard charts, which [...]

Give Away: Periwinkle Pin Cushion

Posted by: moose845 on: March 26, 2008

Be sure to go register at She Works With Her Hands before March 31st. She’s giving away this little pin cushion, and all you have to do is leave a comment at the end of her post. Simple as that! And wouldn’t this pin cushion look cute in your sewing room? Until next time.
Let’s go sew!

I spent some time today looking over some of my favorite sites to see what’s been added. Found lots of new goodies and things to make.
Quiltville has plenty of free patterns and tutorials. I’m especially interested in how to make maverick stars, which are made with the tiniest of scraps—and I have plenty of those. The newest [...]

Here comes the sun

Posted by: moose845 on: March 20, 2008

We had such a nice day today for a change. The sun was shining, no dark clouds in the sky, a nice breeze, and no chance of rain. It looks like it’s going to be nice through Saturday, but we’re scheduled for thunderstorms again on Sunday. Who wants rain on Easter! So I digitized this happy sun, and [...]

The apple of my eye!

Posted by: moose845 on: March 19, 2008

I digitized this apple last night. The design reminds me of summer. Why that is, I don’t know. Aren’t apples a fall fruit? Anyway, it makes me think of warm weather, longer days, barbecues and picnics, and…sandals! I hope some of you can use it in your projects. Send me photos! I’d like to see what you do [...]

It’s officially spring!

Posted by: moose845 on: March 18, 2008

The bluebonnets are blooming! Which means (according to my logic) that it’s officially spring in my little corner of Texas. Unfortunately, today’s weather forecast is calling for an 80% chance of severe thunderstorms with large hail and high winds. And some of these have the possibility of turning into tornadoes. The humidity is sitting at 94%. At least the [...]

Here’s a few more ideas to try. I keep a file of all these neat things, but I’m not sure I’ll ever get through them! Just like my fabric. I keep adding to my stash, but I don’t think I’ll ever use it all.
Chocolate on My Cranium has this cute tote bag to make, and [...]

Happy Easter!

Posted by: moose845 on: March 9, 2008

Here’s one last design for Easter. The University is on Spring Break this week, and we’re leaving town on Tuesday to go see my mom, sister, and oldest daughter, Michell, in Oklahoma. We’ll be back home on Sunday evening. Easter is the next weekend, and we’re going to see our youngest daughter, Jenifer, in Beaumont. She’s already hinted [...]

Remembering

Posted by: moose845 on: March 9, 2008

Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy.
My dad passed away on March 20, 2003. Today is his birthday, and I miss him. The pain lessens but never truly goes away.
We can now laugh at remembered events, things that were said, [...]

Making fabric postcards

Posted by: moose845 on: March 7, 2008

I thought some of you might want directions on how to make a fabric postcard. The directions on Red Shoe Ramblings are easy to follow. These photos, also from Red Shoe Ramblings, show the front and back of a postcard. They are so easy to make and a great way to try out new techniques. Once you’re [...]

At HMQS 2008, May 8–10, 2008, Meander Publishing and the show’s organizers are teaming up for the Cards for Kidsexhibit and sale, with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) a non-profit organization founded in 1983 by the Osmond family and headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. Here comes Peter Cottontail,
Hoppin’ down the bunny trail,
Hippity, hoppity, Easter’s on its way.
Bringin’ every girl and boy

Things to make your Easter bright and gay.
Here’s an Easter basket design that I finished today. You can download it below. Happy Easter!
