I’ve been wanting some warm gingerbread with whipped cream for a while now. The kind my mother made when we were growing up. I’m not talking about a gingerbread cookie but a moist, cake-type of gingerbread. The kind the grocery stores sold, many years ago, as a box mix. While searching for the elusive gingerbread, I came across these two recipes. The [...]

I forgot to add these to my last post. I found these interesting tutorials and thought you might also find them helpful. The Happy Zombie has some instructions on how to fold your fabric using a 6-1/2″ ruler. Pretty neat. Now I must find the time to fold my entire fabric stash! And here’s a neat find [...]

Today we decided to go see the Spiderwick Chronicles. It’s a very good movie and, if you haven’t seen it yet, it’s well worth it to go. However, maybe I’m showing my age, but what happened to manners in the movie theater? Why do people insist on talking, and why do people bring little babies [...]

Okay, okay, it’s not April yet, but it seems like we’ve got all the rain in January and February. I wonder if there will be any rain left for April! I went out into the backyard the other day and noticed the grass is starting to sprout and the trees are beginning to bud. I also noticed [...]

I’ve spent some time on the computer this afternoon and found some great projects to try. You might find some of these of interest too. The first is this cool wallet from that*darn*kat. I found this tutorial from stitch.rip.repeat for creating your own bunting. This one also has tutorials on printing your own fabric—which I really [...]

This is Bruiser who was picked up as a stray in Austin, Texas. He’s had a pretty rough life so far. Bruiser had a number of parasites that he’s been treated for already, and he’s been neutered. Bruiser also has heartworms.
What are heartworms? Well, dogs are considered the perfect host for heartworms; but, heartworms can infect coyotes, foxes, wolves, domestic [...]

I finally finished digitizing the animals this evening! I’ll test stitch them tomorrow night and do any ‘tweaking’ they might need. I was going through some of my designs and found this flower I did some time ago. I thought some of you might be able to use it in something. I started a set [...]

Saturday’s paper said we were very likely to get a tornado some time during the day. I rushed out and did all my errands so I could be home when the storm hit. It started raining just as I finished up with all my running. By the time I got home it had turned into a [...]

Happy Valentine’s Day! I was surprised at my office yesterday with a dozen red roses, and today I got this box of chocolate covered strawberries. I love chocolate covered strawberries! As you can see, I tried the strawberries out as soon as I got them. Delicious! The cards say they are from ‘the boys’. Well, ‘the boys’ [...]

I received this cute fabric in exchange for digitizing some of the animals that are in it. Isn’t it the cutest design? I’ve finished the elephant, and I’ve started working on the hippo. I have a sinus infection so I’m not working very fast or for very long at a time on these. If you suffer [...]

Here’s one more design I did this evening. It’s an embossed flower design. You don’t need to use stabilizer other than sticky in the hoop to hold the towel. Use the same color thread in the bobbin. I haven’t tested it, but it should sew out fine. Enjoy!
Let’s go sew!

It’s Friday! I haven’t accomplished much this week in the way of sewing. I’ve played with my new photo printer quite a bit, although I’m still having some trouble figuring out how to rotate my pictures to get them to print out correctly. If all else fails, read the manual!
I’ve promised myself that I will [...]

Here’s another little design that I’ve digitized. I think I might put it on some placemats. I have some green leaf fabric, and I think this would like very nice in a corner. I might make a few smaller ones to place around on the mat. I’ve posted it below. Feel free to download.
Let’s go [...]

I digitized these easter eggs this afternoon. You can download this design from the box. Show me what you do with this! Doesn’t it seem like Christmas was just yesterday? Now Valentine’s Day is almost here with Easter not far behind. At last spring is on its way…or just around the corner. The last few [...]

I finished cleaning up my sewing room today, and I found these two bags of wonderful remnants that I bought at the Houston Quilt Festival. One has some great lace pieces, and the other has some colorful pieces of silks and satins. I’ve started some fabric postcards out of some of these. I also found [...]
